Great Joy!

I've been excited about today for a long time knowing that I would have the opportunity to attend the Conference on Computerized Family History and Genealogy at Brigham Young University. With life running at full speed of late, I'm very grateful to take a moment to reflect upon what I most enjoy doing and that is Family History. The keynote speaker was Dr. Susan Easton Black, a noted researcher in early church history. She shared with us her excitement in living a life of great joy every day as she continues her research. She was also taught about her family history by a loving grandmother. I especially admire her focus to accomplish her goals and completing her projects. Our trips to Nauvoo have been greatly enriched by her efforts. Her research has allowed us to know more about our early saint ancestors.

The strong spirit here today reminds me that I must remember to have great joy in my life everyday, too. Not just pleasure, or passing joy, but great joy--like that found when researching family history and preparing to do the work for our kindred dead.
